RDC Badge Boards

Hello, everyone! We are pleased to announce that we will begin selling our RDC Badge Boards directly, as well as maintaining a partnership with Radiation Detection Company. With over 20 years of experience in engineering in the dosimetry field, we can tell you the hardest part of radiation safety isn’t just getting employees to wear their badge, it’s getting them to return their badge to the dosimetry provider at the end of each wear period.

A dosimetry badge alone doesn’t provide any shielding from radiation. A dosimeter it is designed to absorb energy from ionizing radiation, and the release that energy within a reader in the form of light. That release of light is measured and converted into personnel dose by the dosimetry provider. This process is the same for both TLD and OSL dosimeters. If the dosimetry provider does not receive your dosimeter, your dose cannot be provided.

Another key component to accurate dosimetry is making sure the dosimeter is not irradiated while it is not being worn. It’s very common to forget to a dosimeter near an X-Ray machine or radioactive source. When this dosimeter is returned, it very often reads much higher than expected causing concern for the employer, and employees.

A control badge will be provided by your dosimetry provider. This badge is not to be worn or exposed to any form of ionizing radiation. This badge is to be kept with your dosimeters during transit, and when not in use. The readings from the control badge will be subtracted from the badges within your order removing both radiation received in transit, and background radiation, leaving only the personnel dose. If your control badge is exposed to an elevated radiation dose, this dose may be subtracted leaving a personnel dose that does not accurately depict the dose your dosimeter received.

The RDC badge board is an easy and affordable solution to all of these problems in addition to saving you money in unreturned badge fees. Simply attach the board to any wall using the included material, and instruct your employees to return their dosimeter at the end of each shift. This makes monthly and quarterly badge exchanges fast and easy while keeping your dosimetry program as accurately as possible.

We also provide single badge holders designed for Area Monitors. Since all facilities using radioactive materials must measure exposure to members of the public, these boards are a great way to store your area monitor in designated locations insuring adequate measures have been take to keep you in compliance with NRC standards.
